As a rule, TEA Parties across the country seek to educate and evaluate candidates and their campaigns but without offering an endorsement. To avoid misunderstanding, that remains our practice here, both with the Louisville Mayoral and the 3rd District Congressional races. Still, those of our extensive emailing list should know that there are two campaigns that have proactively and consistently sought out the TEA Party and whose messages parallel that of the TEA Party: fiscal responsibility, smaller government, lower taxes and free market solutions (as opposed to choking government regulations) at every level of government…and strong national defense on the federal level.
The salient information of these two candidates is provided below. In the interest of fairness and making available the information related to all like-minded, conservative candidates, their information was included as part of this past week’s email “blast.”
In our conversation with Mayoral candidate Chris Thieneman (R) today, he stressed that his approach to government and its role mirrors that of TEA Party candidate for U.S. Senate, Dr. Rand Paul and that he would strive to implement those principles at the Metro Government level. And in our recent dialogs with 3rd District candidate, Larry Hausman (R), there is a recurring theme that is unmistakable: the Constitution and its principles as the proper and exclusive driving force in both crafting, voting on and implementing legislation that impacts all Kentuckians–and America as a whole. Mr. Hausman has been conspicously present at virtually every Louisville TEA Party since its inaugural Rally last April 15, 2009. When a candidate quotes the Constitution as the Bible of U.S. government and oft repeats that any power exercised by any elected Congressman is “derived from the consent of the governed” and that only within the confines of “enumerated powers,” he “gets” true conservatism. His website can be accessed at:
His campaign would also like you to know about tomorrow’s Volunteers Event…
Saturday, May 15th – Volunteer Extravaganza!
9:30am – Coffee and donuts
10:00am-5:00pm – Walk neighborhoods and hand out literature
5:00pm – bbq, burgers and live music
Once again, this is not to be cited as, interpreted as or misconstrued as an endorsement of any kind. But we believe that when the concept of Constitutionally-limited government is embraced by candidates in the tangled confusion of the political jungle, that is at the very least, significant…and we want TEA Party members and supporters throughout the greater Louisville area to be as informed as possible. Whomever you cast your vote for on Tuesday, please do get out and vote…and take a friend with you!
