HAUSMAN JOBS PLAN A WINNER FOR EMPLOYED AND UNEMPLOYED
Louisville, KY – Much like the rest of the country, the people of Louisville are concerned about creating new jobs after record losses in 2009. Larry Hausman, small businessman and Republican candidate for Congress, will announce a simple and effective plan to get more Louisvillians back to work at a press conference today at 12:15 PM.
“It’s important that we get people in Louisville back to work as soon as possible,†said Hausman. “This is not only necessary for the 17% who are unemployed or underemployed but also for the 83% that are being stretched thinner with longer hours and reduced salaries.â€
In Hausman’s plan, all businesses would be rewarded with a double tax deduction of newly hired employees for one year. As an example, under the Hausman plan, a business bringing on a new employee at $50,000 a year in 2010 would receive a $100,000 tax deduction. This incentive would encourage existing businesses to hire new employees, creating additional purchasing power and tax dollars while rewarding growth in the private sector.
“President Obama’s jobs plan is shortsighted, relying too heavily on short term contractual employment that will merely serve as a band-aid for a much larger wound,†said Hausman. “If we don’t give existing businesses incentives to hire new employees, we are creating a jobs bubble that will burst shortly. My plan puts unemployed people back to work, eases the stress on existing workers and empowers small business to grow out of this recession.â€
“It’s a simple plan, no doubt. But we’ve tried 1,000-2,000 page legislation and the American people have rejected that way of doing business. It’s time that our leaders on both sides of the aisle proposed simple and effective solutions to our serious problems instead of multi-thousand page scrolls filled with favors to special interests and payoffs to Senators.â€
